CJ OliveNetworks to enter smart city business with Team Naver

South Korean digital service company CJ OliveNetworks announced on Thursday that it has signed a mutual cooperation agreement at Naver Corp.'s headquarters in Seongnam City with Naver Cloud and Naver Labs for joint participation in smart city projects.
The three companies will integrate their respective technologies and capabilities to collaborate on developing solutions for smart city services, digitizing smart city platforms based on digital twin technology and expanding business opportunities in domestic and international smart city projects.
CJ OliveNetworks will plan and provide services related to smart city projects and support various content applications for digital twins in smart cities. Additionally, it will actively explore opportunities for business expansion domestically and internationally.
Naver Cloud will provide ICT infrastructure on its platform for implementing smart cities, while Naver Labs plans to support indoor and outdoor digital twin technology for smart cities.
In the field of smart city projects, CJ OliveNetworks anticipates that the collaboration will enable the development of services such as city monitoring and control, disaster prevention and advanced smart city services using the digital twin platform.
Yoo In Sang, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks who led national smart city projects in Sejong and Busan, expressed the company's commitment to actively explore and promote smart city projects to create lifestyle innovations based on digital transformation and data. He also mentioned that synergy is expected from combining the platform capabilities of Naver Cloud and the technological expertise of Naver Labs in smart city projects.
"Naver Cloud will leverage its advanced AI technology and stable platform to actively contribute to the exploration of smart city projects," said Kim Yuwon, CEO of Naver Cloud.
"By integrating urban management systems, robots and autonomous driving technologies, we will make sure to contribute to the construction of smart cities," said Seok Sang-ok, CEO of Naver Labs.
CJ OliveNetworks and Naver Cloud have signed an additional agreement for collaboration on the business of the large-scale AI "HyperCLOVA X." CJ OliveNetworks will serve as the preferred cooperation partner for HyperCLOVA X, providing customized HyperCLOVA X technology services to customers and participating in technology collaboration and joint operation of partnership projects.
