Supertone, HYBE Co.'s AI audio subsidiary, is set to participate in the international gaming exhibition G-Star 2023, taking place from Nov. 16 to 18 at Busan's BEXCO. Supertone will unveil two new AI audio technologies scheduled for release in the first half of next year.
The innovations to be introduced include "Project Screenplay," which allows the generation of natural audio for in-game characters' dialogues, and "Project Shift," enabling gamers to engage in real-time conversations with other users using their in-game character's voices.
Project Screenplay is an AI audio service based on text-to-speech (TTS) technology that converts text into speech. Game developers can directly design the voices of various game characters, offering a rich range of vocal expressions for main characters as well as voice generation for non-player characters (NPCs).
Project Shift allows gamers to adjust the ratio of their voice to that of their character, freely set voice styles, and engage in real-time conversations with the voice of their desired character.
Supertone is an AI audio specialist acquired by HYBE earlier this year. It possesses technology that can be applied across the wide entertainment content spectrum, from voice generation to real-time conversion.
The company has showcased various applications, such as performing live on stage in real-time with someone else's voice and transforming the voices of characters from dramas like "Casino" and "The Masked Singer." This latest technological development is expected to expand its business into the gaming industry, following its involvement in music, dramas and movies.
