Naver to unveil AI chatbot Cue: in September 2023

South Korea's web portal giant Naver Corp. on Friday announced the lineup and release schedule of services using its hyperscale artificial intelligence (AI) HyperCLOVA X, which comes out on August 24.

The company's plan is to roll out an array of generative AI services in order by year's end.

First, HyperCLOVA X, an upgrade of Naver's large language model (LLM) HyperCLOVA, will be released next month. Following the hyperscale AI LLM HyperCLOVA, which debuted in 2021 as just the third of its kind in the world, the next-generation model will make its premiere two years later.

Naver has pre-released HyperCLOVA X to partner startups for application program interface.

Also slated for release next month, the interactive agent CLOVA X does more than simply generate and provide answers to input questions; it also acts as a personal productivity tool by utilizing writing skills like creation and summary. Like ChatGPT, it can link a range of services in the form of plug-ins.

September will see the launch of the beta version of Cue:, a generative AI search service similar to Microsoft's GPT-4-using web search engine Bing. Cue:'s core feature is its ability to understand long questions with complex intent and devise a search plan.

A new version of a writing tool that integrates HyperCLOVA X has also been applied to Naver's content creation tool Smart Editor. The revised tool recommends good writing materials and by inputting keywords, it writes a draft or helps with editing through better expressions.

From October, Naver will launch B2B services like CLOVA Studio, an AI tool used on its cloud platform. Its corporate clients can also combine their own data with HyperCLOVA X to build their own productivity-boosting tools and customized AI services.
