Samsung to participate in Germany's IAA Mobility in September

Samsung Electronics Co.'s Device Solutions (DS) division and Samsung Display Co. will participate in the future mobility show "IAA Mobility," which will take place from September 5 to 10 in Munich, Germany.

According to industry sources on Friday, it is the first time that Samsung Electronics' DS division, responsible for semiconductors, and Samsung Display are participating in IAA Mobility.

Amid the growing importance of electric and electronic devices in the automotive industry, Samsung is focusing on securing customers by showcasing vehicle semiconductors and vehicle displays.

Samsung sees automotive applications as one of the three major areas, along with servers and mobile devices, that will drive growth beyond 2030. The company has plans to actively target the automotive semiconductor market.

Recently, Samsung Electronics also started mass production of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) universal flash storage (UFS) 3.1 memory solutions, which boast the industry's lowest power consumption.

Compared to the previous generation, the power consumption of the 256-gigabyte lineup has improved by about 33%, making it an optimal solution for electric vehicles and others.

Samsung Display is also intensifying its efforts in the vehicle display business. Samsung Display signed in April a business agreement to develop display solutions for next-generation car models with the supercar brand Ferrari.

As a result, Samsung Display's state-of-the-art organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels will be incorporated into Ferrari's next-generation models. Samsung Display also supplies display panels to global automotive manufacturers such as Audi and BMW.
