South Korean AI-powered edtech firm Riiid will enter the Brazilian public education market. The company announced on Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Celepar, a Parana state-owned IT company, to supply AI education solutions.
Parana, the sixth most populous state in Brazil, is recognized as an area with high-income levels and quality of life due to its vibrant economy. The state is making efforts to digitize its education system and enhance educational quality by incorporating the latest AI technology.
Governor of Parana Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior visited Riiid in March this year to explore AI education technology. In April, the CEO of Celepar, the company responsible for the MOU on the side of Parana, also visited Riiid for further discussions.
Riiid plans to supply its Quizium, which automatically extracts questions from video educational materials, and its AI learning management tool "Wise Alpha" sequentially this year and next year. Initially focusing on the English subject, the company agreed to continuously expand the content to include subjects such as math, science and history.
Quizium, an as-yet-unreleased B2B solution in Korea, is being introduced for the first time to Brazilian students. Through this solution, learners can immediately verify and review the knowledge gained from video lectures, thereby enhancing learning effectiveness.
Wise Alpha, a B2B solution, is an AI learning management system for teachers that provides personalized learning experiences by analyzing students' learning data. It is also planned to be developed and supplied for public education domestically through an MOU with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education in Korea.
With the MOU with Riiid, Parana expects to be the first to introduce innovative AI-based education solutions in Brazil and lead the education paradigm.
Riiid plans to expand its presence in the South American market and enhance its competitiveness in the global education market through the latest deal. The company has already gained recognition in global markets by providing AI education solutions to countries such as the United States, Japan and the Middle East.
