South Korean convenience store chain CU announced on Monday that it exclusively released “Snoop Dogg Cali Gold sparkling wine”, which is made in California, made in collaboration with Australian wine brand 19 Crimes and famous American rapper Snoop Dogg.
It is characterized by a sweet yet refreshing tropical fruit scent and a light and refreshing throat. CU explained that it goes well with canapés, hamburgers, and Spanish ham with moderate acidity at an alcohol content of 11 degrees.
CU will also introduce popular red wines, “Chianti Classico” and “Super Tuscan” from Tuscany, Italy's main wine producing region, and hold a discount event from next month.
Since last month, CU has been receiving positive responses from customers by inserting QR codes into wine price tags sold at stores and providing various information such as wine varieties, countries of origin, wineries and user ratings.
Thanks to various varieties and customer convenience services, CU's wine sales in May increased by 15.6% compared to the same period last year, the company explained.
