South Korea's medical robot company Curexo partnered with Kyocera Corporation to enter the Japanese market for artificial joint surgery robots.
Curexo said on Tuesday that it had signed an exclusive sales contract with Kyocera for their artificial joint surgery robot, the "Cuvis-joint," in Japan. While Curexo will be responsible for manufacturing, supplying and educating on the artificial joint surgery robot, Kyocera will handle sales and maintenance in Japan.
The Cuvis-joint is a surgical robot that leverages an optical tracking camera to automatically cut a patient's knee bone based on computerized tomography (CT) images of the patient prior to surgery.
This marks Curexo's first entry into the artificial joint surgery robot market in Japan. "By supplying artificial joint surgery robots to the global company Kyocera, we hope to contribute to the recovery and health promotion of Japanese patients," a Curexo representative said.
"We aim to expand our business in the field of joint replacement surgery and contribute to maintaining the health and well-being of the people," a Kyocera official commented.
Kyocera is a global company based in Japan that produces industrial and automotive parts, semiconductor packages, electronic products and medical devices such as artificial joints.
