KT Corp. said on Tuesday that it has unveiled an email security solution based on artificial intelligence (AI) advanced persistent threat (APT) analysis technology. The solution is designed to provide advanced defense against new and emerging email hacking threats.
Using its AI APT analysis technology, KT's email security solution provides users with a sophisticated level of analysis and vulnerability detection, thanks to the platform's intelligence and automation.
The system's key component is its database, which is optimized for the domestic environment and based on over 200 million email data analyzed annually through KT's AI analysis platform. The database boasts a detection accuracy up to 22% higher than anti-virus solutions from overseas security companies.
To enhance its defenses against APT attacks, KT creates a threat database for an average of 10 new or variant APT attacks per day and updates the email security solution regularly.
The system employs an image conversion process that converts malicious code into images and compares them to the pattern of malicious code, making the detection speed up to 180 times faster than dynamic analysis. As a result, the solution can detect APT malicious codes introduced through email in near real time.
In addition to detecting variant executable files and variant phishing URLs, the email security solution can also precisely identify document-type (PDF, Word, HWP) malicious files, which are often challenging to detect.
KT plans to apply its AI technology to other domestic security solutions, such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), network security equipment and cloud security, to enhance its competitiveness in the domestic security market.
