S.Korean Openedges’ chip IP licensed by Toyota affiliate Aisin

Openedges Technology, South Korean semiconductor design intellectual property (IP) platform, announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a vehicle semiconductor IP licensing agreement with Aisin, a subsidiary of Japan's Toyota Group and the world's sixth-largest automotive component company.

Under the agreement, Openedges will supply the "ORBIT DDR memory controller IP" (OMCTM) and "ORBIT DDR PHY IP" (OPHYTM) to Aisin to support high-performance LPDDR5 memory standards for vehicle applications. 

Openedges' LPDDR5 OPHY and OMC IP provide a maximum data transfer rate of 6.4 Gbps when used simultaneously. The company claims that the highest level of DDR IP is required for vehicle system-on-chips (SoC) to ensure reliability and safety.

Openedges mentioned that Aisin evaluated the performance and service quality of the IP already on the market before ultimately choosing Openedges' LPDDR5 IP.
