ATTOMAX golf balls approved by the World Record Committee (WRC) as the longest-flying golf balls in the world finally hit the South Korean market on Friday exclusively via Kolon Mall and The Cart Golf, online shopping malls operated by Kolon Industries Inc.’s fashion unit FnC.
ATTOMAX is a golf ball brand headquartered in California, the US, and its golf balls were officially recognized by WRC, also in California, in June last year as the world’s longest-distance golf balls.
During a test using a WRC-approved robot swinger, ATTOMAX golf balls flew 13 to 18 meters (15 to 20 yards) farther than 13 types of golf balls from 10 other brands, according to ATTOMAX.
The secret behind the golf ball’s superior flight performance is a special amorphous metal alloy, dubbed Attometal, developed by Attometal Tech Korea Inc., an advanced materials developing affiliate of Kolon Industries, a major chemical and textile product manufacturing company in Korea.

The amorphous metal is non-crystalline, meaning that it does not have boundaries between structures so the metal can maintain liquid-like atomic structures even after it is hardened.
An amorphous metal alloy is sought after as a next-generation material for aircraft and power turbines, smartphone and vehicle power inductor parts and high-precision, micro military parts thanks to its high elasticity, strength and strong corrosion resistance properties.
ATTOMAX golf balls’ casting layer is blended with this amorphous metal powder, helping to quickly convert collision energy into kinetic energy to make the ATTOMAX golf ball the longest-distance ball in the world.
Kolon Industries FnC will sell three types of ATTOMAX golf balls -- MEDIUM balls for power hitters and swingers with a golf head speed of 95 miles per hour (mph) and faster, SOFT balls for moderate swingers with a head speed of 90 mph and faster and HARD for power hitters with a 97-mph and faster speed.
Kolon Industries FnC is the fashion unit of the Korean chemical and textile manufacturing major, with more than 30 brands including golf wear, menswear and womenswear, various accessories and overseas premium labels.
