Korea Customs Service to advance Tanzania's e-customs clearance system

The Korea Customs Service said on Wednesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Tanzania Revenue Authority for cooperation in a project to further evolve the country's electronic customs clearance system (TANCIS).

The latest agreement is intended to provide technical advice in upgrading the Korean electronic customs clearance system (UNI-PASS) introduced in Tanzania in 2014 and to support the capacity building of Tanzanian customs officials.

The Tanzanian government plans to upgrade the existing customs clearance system including transitioning to a cloud-based system, whose estimated cost is $43 million.
