Geeks, The Korea Economic Daily’s startup news platform launched in May, launched an upgraded website in Korean on Monday. The new content includes in-depth articles, a database on more than 5,000 South Korean startups, funding information on top startups, expert columns and infographics.

The startups database — the core content of the revised website — provides information such as CEO profiles, C-level management, main business, funding history as well as investor relations materials and related news articles.

The database includes local unicorns, such as travel and lodging platform Yanolja Co.; Viva Republica Inc., operator of fintech platform Toss; Dunamu Inc., operator of crypto exchange Upbit; as well as small startups in their early stages. It contains information on more than 5,000 startups; that figure is expected to double by the first half of 2023.

The upgraded website also offers Market Map, which lists the 50-most-funded startups over the past six months, one year, three years and five years. The data is provided in cooperation with The VC, a Korean venture capital database firm.

The site also posts startup recruitment information in collaboration with Drama & Company, operator of the business card-sharing app Remember. The hiring information will contain job descriptions for tech platform giants such as Coupang Inc. and Woowa Brothers Corp. as well as small- and mid-sized startups.

The website also shows estimated market caps of unlisted Korean companies and their ups and downs in real-time, in partnership with Dunamu. For in-depth information on local corporates, Geeks provides the latest reports on key industries such as logistics tech and fulfillment services.

It will also boost content from VC professionals by providing more than 100 high-quality columns or interviews starting in the first half of next year.

Over the past six months, Geeks has provided 51 interviews and columns from 38 investment professionals. Experts have included Vertex Venture Holdings CEO Chua Kee Lock, startup accelerator Bluepoint Partners Inc. CEO Lee Yong-kwan, Kakao Ventures Corp. Vice President Kim Ki-jun, Kunicorn Investment LLC CEO Kim Hong-il, and peer-to-peer lending platform Lendit CEO Kim Sung-joon.
