Korean Air resumes regular staff recruitment for 1st time in 3 years

Korean Air Lines Co. for the first time in three years has resumed regular staff recruitment that was suspended by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Airline industry sources on Friday said the nation's largest air carrier is accepting through Dec. 30 applications for entry-level and experienced positions on its recruiting website, with a hiring scale of around 100 employees.

The company is looking for experienced staff for finance, flight management, handling of passengers with reduced mobility (PRM), marketing and public relations and entry-level personnel for its passenger, PRM, cargo, aviation technology and aerospace units.

This is the first time for Korean Air to hold general staff recruitment since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Korea in early 2020. The last batch of hires decided on in late 2019 only officially joined last year due to the pandemic.

A company source said, "The purpose of securing talented staff with expertise and capacity in each field is to prepare for our merger with Asiana Airlines and raise the foundation for future growth after COVID-19."

In addition, Korean Air will hire staff for maintenance and operations, two areas directly related to safety, in a phased process to restore their levels to those before the pandemic.

The airline will also seek to hire more than 100 employees for a range of jobs such as cabin crew member like a flight attendant and R&D personnel.
