South Korea's LS Cable & System Ltd. on Monday said it will supply high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables for 400 billion won ($306.1 million) for the Norfolk Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm in the North Sea off the coast of the UK.
This is the company's second order in the UK following one in October for the Norfolk Boreas project worth 240 billion won under construction next to the wind farm.
The cable giant thus landed the largest order in Europe by a Korean cable company.
"We have proven our capacity as a global cable company by winning several large-scale orders in Europe, the birthplace of new and renewable energy," a company source said. "LS Cable & System is Korea's only company to develop voltage source converter HVDC cables for Europe and North America."
The company this year has also landed big orders from North America and Asia, signing a supply contract on Friday worth 200 billion won in Taiwan to raise its yearly order volume to 1.2 trillion won.
The company is also raising its prowess in undersea cables by acquiring a stake in underwater construction specialist KT Submarine.
