Hankook Tire ties up with Chaevi for EV charging service

Korea’s leading tire maker Hankook Tire & Technology Co. and Daeyoung Chaevi, one-stop electric vehicle (EV) charging solution provider, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday to strengthen cooperation in the EV service market.

The two companies agreed to build infrastructure to expand accessibility to EV charging in line with the rapidly growing electrification of automobiles.

Hankook Tire will install the latest EV charger of Chaevi at its tire-oriented auto service store, T'Station.

Once the plan is materialized, any EV owner can charge his or her car while changing tires at T-Station.

The tire company has been concentrating its efforts on promoting `iON,' the world's first EV-only tire brand it launched this May, and held events to provide EV charging credits to purchasers of iON brand tires.

Chaevi is an EV charging service company that runs 4,000 charging stations nationwide, including 400-kW self-developed chargers.  It is operating not only in South Korea but also in overseas markets such as the Americas and Europe, and is providing a subscription-based plan called "Ready Pass."
