LG CNS announced Thursday it will launch a new business of developing virtual factories and labs as part of its broader digital transformation offerings.
The LG Group subsidiary explained it has recently completed the proof of concept (PoC) on building a virtual factory and has begun building one that specializes in developing new materials.
A virtual factory refers to an online rendition of a factory and the facilities equipped inside, which analyzes data that originates from the physical location to devise the optimal operational plan.
The facilities can be monitored and controlled in virtual space, which in turn allows for forecasting needed repairs and updates.
LG CNS is also pursuing a virtual lab business, in which various attempts can be made – from conducting durability tests to developing new materials.
