Hyundai Motor Co. on Tuesday unveiled exterior images of the new G90, a full model change version of the flagship sedan under its standalone premium brand Genesis.

The latest luxury car is the first full model change in three years, following the facelift in 2018.

The redesigned G90 will be available in a choice of sedan or long-wheelbase models, with the latter featuring an extended wheelbase of 190 mm giving more space for rear seats, according to Hyundai, South Korea’s top automaker.

“The G90 is the ultimate expression of athletic elegance that carefully balances dynamic driving and an elegant rear seat experience,” said Lee Sang-yup, head of Genesis Global Design.

With the latest model, Hyundai said Genesis plans to expand its presence in the luxury sedan market not just in Korea but across the globe.

Detailed specifications of the new G90 will be revealed in mid-December when it will start receiving orders, it said.

NEW FEATURES

Hyundai said the model’s front exterior consists of a new crest grille and sleek two-line lamps that resemble the brand’s emblem.

The G90’s status as a best-in-class luxury sedan is further cemented with its clamshell hood, a single panel that combines the hood and fenders to eliminate panel gaps and create a sleek impression, it said.

The side profile is defined by the parabolic line which runs from the front to the rear, highlighting the elegance of a luxury sedan, while its rear is finished with a unique look with the full-width two-line lamps and lettering.

Hyundai has unveiled an increasing number of luxury models in its Genesis lineup, including sedans G70, G80 and G90 as well as SUVs GV60, GV70 and GV80.

It now aims to lead the age of electrification by focusing on dual electrification involving fuel cell and battery EVs, starting with the G80 and GV60 electric models.

Genesis has thus kick-started its commitment to becoming a 100% zero-emission vehicle brand by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2035.

Genesis models are available not just in Korea but in overseas markets, including North America, Europe, China, Australia, Russia and the Middle East.
