Hyundai Motor Co. has added another new model under its standalone luxury brand Genesis, only two days after launching Electrified G80 in South Korea.

The company on July 8 showcased the latest addition to its high-end lineup, G70 Shooting Brake, at 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, an international car festival held in West Sussex, England between Aug. 8-11. The annual event is the largest of such kind in the UK with more than 200,000 visitors from all over the world.

The G70 Shooting Brake is a strategic model specifically designed for the European Market, said the automaker. While the new model is largely based on the new sport sedan G70 released last year, the key difference is that the Shooting Brake has added practicality by increasing the trunk space by 40%.

“It means a lot to unveil the G70 Shooting Brake, our strategic model for Europe, at this distinguished international car festival,” said Genesis Motor Europe’s Managing Director Dominique Boesch. “We hope that Genesis will be able to establish a solid position as a luxury brand among the European drivers.”

Auto experts said that the G70 Shooting Brake, with a much larger trunk space despite being a highly athletic model, will successfully address the demands of the drivers in Europe where hatchbacks and wagons are popular.

Hyundai Motor began sales of Genesis models in Europe from July this year. The company said that orders are now open for luxury sedan G80 and luxury flagship SUV GV80, while its G70, midsize SUV GV70 and the new Shooting Brake model will start sales within the second half of 2021.

The company will exhibit a total of five models from its Genesis lineup at this year’s Goodwood Festival: G70 Shooting Brake, G80, GV80, G70 and GV70. It will also host the European debut of the Genesis X Concept, an EV-based Gran Turismo (GT) coupe concept car.
