Hyundai Motor Group will pilot an urban mobility service for pets in Seoul, using a specially designed Ray EV model by Kia Corp.

The group said on Apr. 26 that it will be operating a four-month pet-service pilot program named M.VIBE until the end of August.

M.VIBE, which stands for “Mobility new VIBE” according to Hyundai Motor Group, integrates EV mobility service with medical, beauty and accommodation services for pets and their owners.

M.VIBE aims to improve the overall lifestyle of pet owners by assisting a freer movement of pets and providing a wide range of convenient pet services, explained the group.

“Pets are becoming important members of the family, and will play a key role in the future mobility industry,” said a Hyundai Motor Group spokesman.

Using M.VIBE’s mobile app, pet owners can book different medical, beauty and accommodation services for their pets and get to the service destination on the provided electric vehicle.

Hyundai Motor Group noted that its specially designed EV will provide a pleasant mobility experience for pet owners and their pets alike, as it provides a more spacious environment and less noise.

The group will be responsible for service planning, platform development and vehicle remodeling, whereas a taxi operator KST Mobility will be in charge of vehicle operation.

After four months of operating the pilot service only in limited areas in Seoul, Hyundai Motor Group plans to expand service regions, service offerings as well as service vehicle options based on a comprehensive internal review.

“Hyundai Motor Group will continue to provide new mobility services like M.VIBE, through partnerships with companies in different sectors, for better life experiences of our customers,” added the group spokesman.
