Doosan Infracore Co., a leading South Korean heavy machinery and construction equipment maker, has won an order to build 15,000 forklift engines from Linde China Forklift Corp.

Doosan said in a statement on Apr. 19 that it will build small-size diesel engines and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) G2 engines from 2023 to 2027 to be mounted on the Chinese company’s forklifts under 3.5 tons. Linde China plans to export the machines to Europe and North America.

The Korean company said its products meet both the European Stage 5 emission standards and the Tier 4 Final emission standards of the US.

“The global strengthening of emission standards is providing an opportunity for Doosan to prove its technological prowess,” said Yoo Jun-ho, vice president of Doosan Infracore.

“We aim to lead the global small engine market with our proven technology.”

The heavy equipment industry is enjoying a strong increase in orders thanks to the global economic recovery driven by the resumption of major construction projects around the world.

In March, Doosan set a new record in the domestic market by selling 650 units of excavators, the highest number in the company’s history. Its two plants in Korea are operating at almost full capacity.

The company said its Yantai plant in China has been operating at 200% its normal capacity since February, with overtime and weekend operations.
