South Korea-based Amorepacific Corp. has received the Innovation Award for its high-tech beauty technologies at the world's largest tech event, Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021, during which the company unveiled its latest product, Lip Factory by Color Tailor.
Lip Factory by Color Tailor is an integrated online and offline lip makeup manufacturing system that uses an artificial intelligence-based mobile app, Color Tailor.
The app, backed by a deep-learning algorithm, analyzes users' facial features and recommends colors that best match their complexion. The pigment-dispensing system Lip Factory then uses the data to create a customized lipstick on the spot.
The award-winning system combines various pigments to create around 2,000 shades of lipstick. Its competitive edge lies in its ability to produce the exact color of choice quickly and accurately, the company said in a press release.
The Korean cosmetics giant also showcased its skincare product, Formularity – Instant Active Toner Blending Device, which instantly creates a bespoke product blending pre-selected skincare ampoules to address users' individual skin conditions.
The at-home skincare device boasts a unique feature that, on command, mixes a dose of the selected ampoule with a liquid toner, soaks a pre-inserted cotton pad with the formula, and then sets it at an ideal temperature for skin absorption. The device creates a new dose each time to offer hygienic application.
This marks Amorepacific's second year at CES. The company also received an Innovation Award last year for its IOPE Tailored 3D Mask, a 3D printing device to generate customized face masks.
"We will continue with our efforts to present more digital beauty innovations that enable new, creative access to beauty," said Park Won-seok, the director of research at Amorepacific R&D center.
