Samsung Electronics Co. has unveiled a range of fifth-generation wireless equipment solutions targeting the US mobile service market, expected to account for as much as 11 trillion won ($9.9 billion) by the end of 2022.
The South Korean tech giant said on Apr. 20 that it developed a C-Band network solutions portfolio to help US mobile operators deliver advanced 5G services in the mid-band spectrum.
With the latest devices, US operators will be able to efficiently expand the coverage of their networks, while providing an enhanced 5G experience to users in both indoor and outdoor environments, according to Samsung.
C-Band refers to the mid-band spectrum from 3.7GHz to 4.2GHz, of which a total of 280MHz between 3.7GHz to 3.98GHz was auctioned off by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this year.
The $81 billion auction was the largest ever, drawing big wireless operators such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.
The mid-band spectrum will play a critical role in helping operators provide 5G services with high-performance, advanced features and wide coverage for users in the US.

Samsung said its new C-Band portfolio includes the latest advanced radio features such as massive MIMO radio, indoor solutions and network optimization tools.
“Samsung is proud to help operators deploy 5G networks in the C-Band spectrum with our expansive portfolio of solutions,” said Junehee Lee, executive vice president and head of R&D, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics.
“Our complete C-Band solutions portfolio offers US operators greater flexibility in 5G deployments, which will drive new business models and opportunities.”
According to Meritz Securities Co., major US wireless operators are expected to make facilities investments worth a combined 11 trillion won by the end of 2022.
