Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled a virtual playground within Roblox, the world’s top metaverse game platform with 54 million users a day, as the South Korean tech giant eyes future businesses in the sector.

Samsung on Tuesday announced the launch of Samsung Space Tycoon, a virtual space where users can create and play games, as well as share experiences using the company’s products together with alien characters in space.

Users can design various Samsung products — from Galaxy smartphones to various TVs and home appliances — and purchase or upgrade game items, using the excavated resources in the space.

Players can get creative by starting with real-life products and giving them a makeover to become in-game gadgets. The foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip can turn into a bag or a scooter, just as users will be more imaginative with the Jet Bot vacuum cleaner turning into a hoverboard or The Sero lifestyle TV into a one-person helicopter.

“Space Tycoon is designed to be a playground where many customers can experience unlimited possibilities of virtual spaces,” said Kim Jinsoo, executive vice president at Samsung’s corporate design center. “We will continue to showcase content that can deliver more meaningful and entertaining digital experiences for both our current and future customers.”

Samsung will launch Space Tycoon simultaneously in 14 languages, including Korean, English, Chinese and Spanish. The company plans to introduce more features where users can interact with one another, share their creations or attend exclusive virtual parties.

In March, Samsung said it was looking to the metaverse and robotics as keys to the company’s future.

Samsung’s Vice Chairman and Co-CEO Han Jong-hee said at that time the company plans to develop optimized metaverse devices and solutions that will help customers experience the metaverse anytime and anywhere.
