TeamSparta acquires Weplanet

South Korea's coding education startup TeamSparta Inc. said on Thursday that it acquired the domestic software development firm Weplanet to expand its talent pool and enhance its outsourcing capabilities.

The equity acquisition deal will allow Weplanet to continue operating independently.

The amount of the acquisition was not disclosed by agreement of both parties. 

Founded 13 years ago, Weplanet has a track record in mobile and web service development, with a strong portfolio of outsourcing projects.

Its experience in running e-commerce services is also seen as a valuable asset.

TeamSparta, which trains over 4,000 junior developers annually, aims to leverage Weplanet's experienced staff to provide more robust on-the-job training.

In return, Weplanet will gain access to a steady stream of fresh talent.

The companies also expect to collaborate on artificial intelligence initiatives.

TeamSparta's AI solution, Faraday, will be used to improve development efficiency and may be offered to clients for post-project support.
