Hyundai Rotem delivers driverless metro cars to Taiwan

Hyundai Rotem Co., a South Korean rolling stock and defense equipment maker, said on Friday it held a ceremony to mark the arrival of the first batch of its cars at the Green Line vehicle base in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

The two cars that arrived in Taoyuan are the first of 80 units for the driverless Light Rail Transit project for the Green Line in Taoyuan.

These cars arrived three months earlier than the previously scheduled delivery in March next year. Hyundai Rotem plans to deliver all vehicles by 2029.

The Light Rapid Transit line will run through the city and connect with the Taoyuan Airport MRT, which opened last year.

The 80km per hour metro trains will use Hyundai Rotem's Train Control and Management System (TCMS).
