Coupang to host business briefing on Taiwan market entry

South Korea's e-commerce leader Coupang Inc. announced on Friday that it plans to conduct a business briefing focused on aiding domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in penetrating the Taiwanese market.

The session is slated for Sept. 18 and is expected to draw around 200 attendees, including firms registered with Coupang and members of the Small & Medium Business Corporation.

The briefing will delve into the specifics of Coupang's Taiwanese Rocket Delivery and Rocket Direct Buying services, while also offering tailored export consultations to attending companies.

Since its Taiwan launch in Oct. last year, Coupang has been extending logistical, customs clearance, and translation support to partner businesses engaged in international sales.

The company disclosed that a significant 70% of the products it markets in Taiwan originate from South Korean SMEs.

Coupang aims for the briefing to serve as a stepping stone for domestic SMEs to explore new avenues for overseas sales and subsequent growth.

"Our Rocket Delivery and Rocket Direct Buying services are linking Taiwanese consumers with South Korean SMEs, thereby offering a new dimension for growth opportunities," head of Coupang's New Business Division Park Dae-joon said. "We are optimistic that this initiative will fortify the global competitiveness of South Korean SME manufacturers."
