This project is an extension of Nike Icheon's first expansion project which was awarded in 2021. It's the largest-scale project in DLS's history.
The core automation products and technologies provided by DLS for this project include order storage and retrieval (OSR) shuttles, conveyors, and warehouse control systems (WCS).
DLS offers end-to-end logistics automation solutions, from design to the installation of automated equipment and WCS. In this second expansion project, a shuttle rack with a height of 26 meters, the highest in Asia, will be installed.
The storage capacity will accommodate up to 200,000 boxes. By the first half of 2026, upon completion of the second expansion, the storage capacity of Nike Icheon CSC will become the largest in the country, with space for 400,000 boxes. The volume of goods handled will also increase by approximately 3.5 times compared to prior to the expansion.
Shuttle-based storage will incorporate OSR shuttles from the global leader Knapp. The gripper for picking up items is automatically adjustable, allowing the shuttle to handle items of various sizes, with a maximum weight of 50 kg.
The conveyor is integrated with the shuttle to ensure rapid and accurate dispatch of products from the shuttle rack. DLS plans to integrate Nike Korea's existing warehouse management system (WMS) with DLS's software.
"We have gained recognition for our expertise and reliability not only among distribution and e-commerce customers but also in the manufacturing sector," a company source said. "We will continue to expand our contracts by supplying state-of-the-art logistics automation systems and smart factory solutions tailored to the needs of individual customers."
