CJ Logistics to introduce intelligent CCTV

South Korea's CJ Logistics announced on Thursday that it has entered into a business agreement with Hanwha Vision for the development and logistics optimization of the Eagle Eye project.

Eagle Eye is an AI-based logistics video solution that connects intelligent closed-circuit TVs installed throughout various logistics points remotely, enabling the system to detect potential hazards such as fires in advance.

Equipped with up to 4K resolution and infrared capabilities, Eagle Eye can recognize objects up to 30 meters away even at night. It identifies hazard elements like fire, and smoke, as well as workers not wearing safety gear like helmets or vests, and sends automatic warning alerts. It also detects instances where a worker might have fallen, enabling swift response.

CJ Logistics plans to install these intelligent CCTV systems at the Gonjiam Megahub Terminal, Asia's largest parcel terminal, to enhance worker safety.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hanwha Vision, a leading domestic video security company, will provide a substantial amount of AI training data and technology accumulated over a long period. CJ Logistics said that the introduction of such intelligent CCTV systems into domestic logistics sites is an industry first.

Both companies intend to further develop CCTV with built-in barcode recognition technology to effectively track parcel shipments in the future. This system will use AI-trained data from invoices to track the real-time movement of parcel packages within extensive CCTV footage.

CJ Logistics expects this system will enable quick and accurate responses to customer complaints by automatically locating relevant video footage within seconds when provided with invoice information.

"We aim to establish an effective logistics infrastructure based on AI to enhance our customer value and capabilities," a CJ Logistics source said.
