The Asan Nanum Foundation, a South Korean startup accelerator program operator, said on Thursday it will open a residency space for Korean venture firms in San Francisco next year to help them study the US market and network with foreign venture capitalists.
The foundation will offer the space, Maru SF, for one- to two-month stays to Korean startups in the early stage of entering the US market.
It can accommodate several dozens of people, providing a venue to network and exchange information. Asan will also organize various networking programs with venture capital firms in the US.
Further, the non-profit foundation will create workspaces for Korean venture firms in San Francisco. In Korea, it has opened two startup workspaces: Maru 180 and Maru 360.
In 2025, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is scheduled to open a community hub in Silicon Valley for Korean venture firms by renovating Korea Venture Investment Corp.’s US office.
It is also preparing a space for Korean startups with a toehold in Silicon Valley.
