South Korean kids learning platform Norit won the monthly pitch competition hosted by D.Camp, a Seoul-based startup accelerator, on Jan. 26.

Norit matches kids with similar interests and helps them make friends and communicate with each other online. For safe use of the platform, it monitors how the kids play and uses artificial intelligence-powered facial recognition system to protect children from deepfakes.

Other startups in the pitch competition include Ikstory, a career management and job search services provider to software developers; Codime, which creates virtual model images wearing clothes to save fashion vendors' marketing costs; Oystec, which develops compounds with oyster shells to treat fluorinated wastewater generated from manufacturing industries; and Wavedeck, a developer of AI-powered voice transfer solutions which reflect the speakers' emotions and intonations.

Backed by Banks Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs, D.Camp creates D.Day Alliance with venture capital firms that review the competitors' business portfolios and support networking of the startups.

The 17 VC firms that co-hosted the January event include HG Initiative, Bridge Alliance Partners, Bigbang Angels, Sopoong Ventures, We Ventures and Coolidge Corner Investment.

D.Camp will host the "D.Day X Global League" in February, which will select overseas startups targeting to enter Korea and local startups aiming for overseas markets.
