South Korea's tech start-up Bunker Kids announced on Tuesday that it raised 2 billion won ($1.5 million) through Series A investment from Korean venture capitals such as Kakao Ventures, Spring Camp, and Rising S Ventures.
Bunker Kids is the operator of the diet menu recommendation and delivery service provider Shipdan.me, which provides solutions optimized for achieving personal health goals using data and algorithms.
Since the launch of the open beta service in July this year, its monthly sales have exceeded 100 million won with the cumulative number of subscribers surpassing 50,000.
"The market demand for services that recommend and deliver hyper-individualized diet menus that suit personal taste and nutrition requirements with algorithms will be high," said Jang Seung-ryong, director of Kakao Ventures.
Bunker Kids plans to use the fresh injection of the funds to upgrade Shipdan.me’s deep learning technology, a customized diet recommendation algorithm, and diversify its customer base by attracting subscribers with various health goals.
"We will not stay in the diet menu recommendation market alone, but expand our business to various fields to help muscle growth and prevent and manage diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes," said Jung Seung-wan, CEO of Bunker Kids.
