Samsung Electronics Co. on Tuesday unveiled its 2023 lineup of smart TVs connected to several Internet of Things (IoT) devices, without using separate hardware to plug into a computer or other electronic devices.

The South Korean tech giant showed off the 2023 Neo QLED TVs during the Samsung First Look 2023 event in Las Vegas, ahead of the world’s largest tech show CES 2023.

They boast enhanced connectivity with other devices around a TV, as well as high-quality pictures and upgraded functions.

The 2023 models are equipped with a single-chip module, or a chip package, to allow them to connect to several IoT devices without using a dongle, a small piece of computer hardware.

They support both the smart things app and smart home devices. The high-end TVs also feature three-dimensional map views that monitor and control devices connected through the smart things app.

Samsung added new features such as shape adaptive light control and increased their shadow rate so that TV viewers can enjoy fine-tuned images such as the nose hairs of a tiger.

The 2023 Neo QLED lineup is also embedded with automatic high dynamic range (HDR) remastering, an AI deep learning technology designed to change the quality of the sound, or of the image.

HDR creates a more immersive environment than that of the standard dynamic range.

MICRO LED TVS

Samsung also showcased seven Micro LED TV models ranging from 50 to 140 inches for this year. Last year, it introduced three types of Micro LED TVs with screen sizes of 89 to 110 inches.

A Micrometer unit LED screen emits light and color by itself without a backlight or color filter.

Micro LED technology is not bound by shape, ratio and size so it can be customized to fit a consumer’s desired setup.

Samsung’s 2023 TV models, unveiled on the sidelines of CES 2023, are designed to reduce energy consumption as well. When not in use, they automatically switch to energy-saving mode.
