South Korea’s game developer Nexon Co. announced on Friday that its PC RPG game Dave the Diver won the Game Design award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Games Awards held in London the previous day.
The BAFTA Games Awards are an annual ceremony for the gaming industry. Nexon explained that Dave was recognized for its unique gameplay. This is the first time a South Korean game has won at the BAFTA Games Awards.
Dave the Diver is a hybrid marine adventure game that has become the first single-package game in Korea to surpass 3 million cumulative sales.
It has garnered over 90,000 positive reviews and became the first Korean title to earn the Must Play title on the game review site Metacritic. It also won the Sit Back and Relax category at the Steam Awards 2023 in January this year.
