S.Korea's Smilegate RPG named in 3 categories of Steam game awards

South Korea's video game developer Smilegate RPG (Role-playing Games) on Thursday said its leading massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Lost Ark was named to three categories of the 2022 Steam Awards by Steam, the world's largest PC game platform.

The game was named to Steam's highest-ranking group "Platinum" for Top Sellers, New Releases and Most Played.

Top Sellers is a title that goes to games with the most sales in a year, New Releases to those with the highest gross revenue in the first two weeks of release and Most Played to those with more than 40,000 concurrent users.

Players of Lost Ark in Korea use Smilegate's game platform Stove, but those in the US, Europe, South America and Australia play it via Steam.

Lost Ark has received praise from Western gamers and awards like Best Action RPG from the North American game media company MMORPG.com based on player votes.

"We will make efforts to release even better games in 2023 to not feel ashamed of our fan support," said Smilegate RPG CEO Ji Won-gil.
