Korea's Kooksoondang sees its makgeolli exports surpass mn mark

Kooksoondang Co., a South Korean brewery that produces traditional rice-based wines, announced on Tuesday that its exports reached an all-time high of $10.7 million last year. This marks the second consecutive year that the company has exceeded $10 million in exports.

Kooksoondang first introduced canned makgeolli, a type of rice wine, to Korea in 1993 and has since expanded its sales to overseas markets. Currently, the company exports Baekse-ju and makgeolli to over 50 countries, with the United States being the primary destination. In fact, exports to the US alone exceeded $3 million last year.

The company also started exporting to Latin American countries last year and plans to continue promoting Korean culture in overseas markets. "We will continue to make efforts to contribute to promoting Korea in overseas markets," said an official from Kooksoondang.
