Hanmi Semiconductor among top 10 chip machine makers: TechInsights

Hanmi Semiconductor Co., a South Korean chip equipment manufacturer, has been chosen as one of the world’s top 10 chip fabrication machine makers.

According to a recent survey by TechInsights Inc., a global semiconductor industry information provider, Hanmi is the only Korean company that made it to the top 10 list.

The 2022 TechInsights Customer Satisfaction Survey is based on 17,546 responses on supplier performance, customer service and product performance, covering 63% of the chip market and 80% of subsystems customers, it said.

Other chip equipment makers named by the research firm include the Netherlands-based ASML Holding N.V., Japan’s Advantest Corp., Applied Materials Inc. of the US, and Singapore’s ASM Pacific Technology Ltd.

Hanmi Semiconductor, established in 1980, counts foundry industry leader Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) as one of its key clients.

Hanmi’s products include micro SAW, a chip packaging cutting machine; Vision Placement, a chip cleaning and test machine; and Meta Grinder, a grinding machine for virtual reality and augmented reality glasses, key process equipment for semiconductor 3D packages.

“We’re proud of the fact that Hanmi is the only Korean company named by TechInsights. That shows our technological prowess,” said Hanmi Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Kwak Dong-shin.
