"The Astronaut," the first solo album of K-pop megaband BTS member Jin, has sold over 1 million copies in the 16 days since its launch.

Released on Oct. 28, the album has sold 1,024,382 copies as of Nov. 12, including 224,390 copies between Nov. 6 and 12. It is the fastest solo album to surpass 1 million copies in the history of the K-pop Circle Chart, the boyband’s label Big Hit Music said on Friday.

The song is co-written by Jin and British rock band Coldplay, who collaborated with BTS on “My Universe” last year. Jin’s mid-low vocal register and acoustic guitar sounds create a dreamy mood in the pop-rock song, expressing affection for the boyband’s Army fan club.

The song has also debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as topped the World Digital Song Sales chart, a weekly record ranking compiled by Nielsen Soundscan and published by Billboard magazine, for two weeks.

Jin, the oldest member of BTS, will enlist Korean military around the middle of December. The other members will also fulfill their national military duty based on respective timelines.
