South Korea's Hanwha Aerospace Co. announced on Monday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH) to establish a mutual cooperation framework for ground, maritime and aviation businesses.
Under the terms of the MOU, both parties have agreed to collaborate on the joint research and development of hydrogen fuel cell and autonomous driving technologies that can be applicable in areas such as naval ships and environmentally friendly vessels, defense weapons systems, power support systems and future advanced air mobility (AAM).
Hanwha Aerospace is currently developing high-output, high-energy density hydrogen fuel cells suitable for future mobility by lightweighting and enhancing the performance of existing fuel cell systems.
KATECH, in alignment with the government's hydrogen mobility policies and development directions, supports corporate commercialization efforts in relevant sectors and is engaged in projects related to hydrogen fuel cell systems, hydrogen storage and charging technologies.
