South Korean mobility platform Kakao Mobility said on Monday that it launched an overseas car rental service accessible through its Kakao T app.
The service allows users to browse and book rentals in 15 popular travel destinations, including the United States, Japan, Italy, and France, with plans to expand to over 100 countries by the first half of 2025.
Users can access the service through the overseas car rental icon within the Kakao T app's travel tab.
Users can compare car models, rates, and insurance options offered by global and local rental car companies.
The platform integrates offerings from major international players like Hertz and Dollar, alongside South Korean firms in the local rental market.
In May, Kakao Mobility signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japanese car rental company ORIX Rent-a-Car and IMS Mobility to enhance service quality, diversify car models, and offer competitive rates and insurance products.
Rental rates are determined by the local partner companies in each country and are offered at the same prices as online reservations on the respective rental car companies' websites.
