South Korean food and beverage company Binggrae said on Wednesday that it sells its plant-based Melona at Costco stores in Australia from November.
Plant-based Melona is an export-exclusive product that replaces the dairy ingredients in the original Melona ice bar with plant-based alternatives while maintaining the same flavor.
The plant-based Melona sold at Australian Costco stores comes in a pack of 24, featuring eight bars each of melon, mango and coconut flavors.
In addition to Costco, plant-based Melona is also available at Woolworths, Australia’s leading supermarket, and IGA, ranked fourth in the market. Starting next month, it will also be sold at Coles, Australia’s second-largest supermarket chain.
Binggrae is also exporting plant-based Melona to European countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and France.
The company reported that the product's sales in Europe during the first half of this year exceeded three times the total revenue for all of last year.
