Cosmax NBT targets Halal health supplement market

Cosmax NBT, Inc., a health supplement original development manufacturing (ODM) affiliate of South Korea's Cosmax Group, announced on Friday that it will enter the Indonesian and Indian market by obtaining Halal certification from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) within the first half of this year.

The MUI is one of the world's top three Halal certification bodies, along with Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), the Malaysian government body responsible for Islamic affairs, and Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS), the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore.

CosmaxNBT's Australian subsidiary is preparing to venture into Indonesia.

The Australian subsidiary underwent a factory inspection by an MUI Halal auditor at the end of last year and is awaiting final approval.

The company chose its Australian subsidiary for this venture because Australian health supplements are gaining global attention for their 'clean and safe' image.

Once the MUI certification is complete, Cosmax NBT plans to start with products for its global clients before securing local clients in Indonesia.

Particularly, with the rising interest in K-beauty in Indonesia, there's potential for synergy with Cosmax, a cosmetics ODM company within the group.

Cosmax NBT is also preparing to enter the Indian market this year, considered Asia's second-largest after China.

Cosmax NBT collaborates with local Indian companies aspiring to enter the global health supplement market.

The company plans to introduce a range of products in India, including those made from indigenous ingredients and functional coffees, through an original brand manufacturing (OBM) approach.
