S.Korean gov’t to showcase domestic fresh eggs in Hong Kong

South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced on Friday that it will launch K-Fresh Egg Special campaign across 400 supermarket in Hong Kong until June 30.

This strategic decision comes at a crucial time as China, the US and Japan, key egg suppliers for Hong Kong, are experiencing a growing number of avian influenza (AI) outbreaks.

This situation presents an ideal window for South Korea to capitalize on, thereby bolstering its market share in the vibrant metropolis.

From January to the end of April this year, South Korean fresh egg exports saw $1.41 million, up 388% from the same period last year.

As part of the month-long campaign, aT will publicize Korean fresh eggs at key retail chains in Hong Kong, including Wellcome, DCH and Green Dot Dot.

This effort is directed toward not only enhancing the revenue for domestic egg producers but also showcasing the superior quality of South Korean fresh eggs to the shoppers of Hong Kong.

The campaign will underscore the distinct attributes of South Korean fresh eggs, deploying well-informed sales staff to elucidate to consumers the safety of these eggs, their clean automated packaging process, and the absence of antibiotics, hormones and colorants.

To augment the campaign's reach, a multi-pronged promotional strategy encompassing television and newspaper advertisements, along with online platform promotions at retail stores, will be implemented.
