Orion’s Turtle Chips launches in Vietnam, India

South Korea's confectionary giant Orion Corp. is launching its popular snack "Kkobuk Chip" in Vietnam and India. Orion announced on Monday that it has invested a total of 10 billion won ($7.6 million) to establish local production systems in Vietnam and India and release the snack in each market.

In Vietnam, the product name for Kobuk Chips has been changed to "Masita" to match the popularity of Korean culture. The name literally translates to "delicious" in Korean.

In India, the snack has been released under the same product name as the one exported to the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, called "Turtle Chips." The company has developed a total of five flavors that reflect the Indian palate, including Mexican lime, sour cream and onion, tangy tomato, masala and spicy devil.

With this move, Orion plans to maintain its top position in the Vietnamese snack market, where it currently holds the No. 1 spot with products like "Ostar" (known as Poca Chips in Korea) and "Swing Chips." In India, the company aims to open up a new snack market with Turtle Chips.

Kkobuk Chip was first introduced in South Korea in 2017 and are currently sold in 23 countries worldwide, including the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.
