South Korea's KB Financial Group was selected as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" list announced by Corporate Knights, a Canada-based global environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment advisory group.
It was the only Korean financial company on the list, with a ranking of 68th.
According to KB, it was recognized for issuing ESG bonds, extending ESG loans, and operating ESG committees directly under the board of directors.
Corporate Knights looks into 25 ESG key indicators such as financial performance, greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable revenue and sustainable investment, and improvement of employees' working conditions to select 100 among 6,000 listed firms with annual revenues of over $1 billion.
