Hanwha Q Cells to unveil soundproof solar module

Hanwha Q Cells Co., a solar power unit of South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, announced on Wednesday that it will participate in the upcoming "World Climate Industry Expo" in Busan from May 25 to 27. The company plans to make its debut at the event with a soundproof solar module prototype.

The World Climate Industry Expo is Korea's largest climate industry exhibition. It has integrated renowned trade shows like the Korea Energy Show and Carbon Neutrality Expo, and is jointly organized by 12 prestigious institutions including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

At the Clean Energy Pavilion, Hanwha Q Cells will present a diverse range of energy solutions and cutting-edge solar technologies supplied to global markets. The centerpiece of their display will be the highly anticipated soundproof solar module, which offers noise-blocking capabilities and excels at reducing light pollution.

This product serves a dual purpose, acting as both a sound barrier for roads and railways and a sustainable power generator. Moreover, it boasts advanced features such as preemptive risk detection and mitigation against hazards like malfunctions, fires and sparks.

Unlike traditional solar power plants with varying peak generation times, the vertically installed module ensures a stable power supply and consistent operation of the power grid. Its unique design contributes to maintaining a reliable and uninterrupted flow of electricity.

In addition to the groundbreaking soundproof solar module, Hanwha Q Cells will exhibit its next-generation solar product, the "Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Cell," and various modules made with tandem cells. The company has dedicated significant resources to research and development, aiming to commence mass production of tandem cells by 2026.

Visitors to their booth will also have the opportunity to explore "Home Energy Solutions," popular residential solar module installations in the United States, Europe and Australia. Hanwha Q Cells aims to showcase its commitment to providing sustainable energy options for households worldwide.

Furthermore, the exhibition will feature agricultural solar modules and building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products like the "ArtSun." Hanwha Motive, the renowned electric vehicle charging brand, will also showcase its charging stations as part of the company's comprehensive lineup.

"Through our wide array of environmentally friendly energy solutions, Hanwha Q Cells aims to promote Korea's climate industry status to a global audience," CEO of Hanwha Q Cells Lee Koo-Yung said .

According to market research firm Wood Mackenzie, Hanwha Q Cells achieved an impressive 33.7% market share in the US residential solar module market in 2022, securing its position as the industry leader for five consecutive years. The company also maintained a dominant market share of 17.7% in the US commercial module market, holding the top spot for four straight years.
