Samsung’s Family Hub Plus gets UL certification

Samsung Electronics Co. said on Tuesday that its 2024 Bespoke Refrigerator with Family Hub Plus has achieved the Diamond grade in an Internet of Things (IoT) security evaluation conducted by UL Solutions.

The US-based well-known safety test company's IoT security evaluation assigns grades ranging from Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, to Diamond, with each level signifying increasing resistance to hacking and enhanced levels of security for smart home appliances.

The Diamond grade signifies that the Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus has passed rigorous tests, including detection of malicious software tampering, prevention of unauthorized access attempts, and anonymization of user data.

Compared to the Platinum grade, one level below Diamond, additional requirements include the provision of security based on trustworthy hardware, testing for unknown potential vulnerabilities, and the operation of programs for early detection of security vulnerabilities.

Samsung Electronics has received this UL Solutions certification for four models of the Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus launching in the US market.

The company plans to extend this certification to a broader range of products, including AI-powered robot vacuums, in the future.
