LG unveils UltraGear gaming monitor 2024

LG Electronics Inc. announced on Wednesday that it unveiled the 2024 model of the UltraGear gaming monitor, optimized for resolution and refresh rate based on content such as games and movies.

The 2024 OLED gaming monitor is the world's first to implement both a high-refresh-rate mode (FHD, 480 Hz) and a high-resolution mode (4K, 240 Hz) on a single monitor. Users can easily switch between modes by pressing a dedicated button at the bottom.

The high-refresh-rate mode is suitable for first-person shooter (FPS) games that require fast screen transitions, while the high-resolution mode is suitable for visually rich games and videos.

The monitor also features Pixel Sound Technology, a film component attached to the OLED display that vibrates to produce sound directly, marking the first application of this technology in a monitor. Unlike monitors that combine side or rear speakers, it delivers clearer sound in the user's direction from the front.

According to LG Electronics, the monitor, based on self-emitting organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology, excels in contrast expression and boasts a grey-to-grey (GtG) response time of 0.03 milliseconds (ms), enhancing the immersive gaming experience.

The company also unveiled a curved OLED gaming monitor with an 800R curvature, 21:9 aspect ratio, WQHD (3,400X1,440) resolution, and a 0.03 ms response time (based on GtG).

It comes in 34-inch and 39-inch sizes, with the 34-inch model receiving an innovation award at CES 2024. Additionally, two 45-inch curved OLED monitors and one 27-inch OLED monitor are part of the new releases.

After launching a lineup of 20's- and 40's-inch OLED gaming monitors last year, LG Electronics has added three new 30's-inch models this year, completing its lineup for sizes ranging from 20 to 40 inches.
