LG Electronics rolls out 118-inch micro LED TV at US trade show

LG Electronics Inc. has launched a second massive micro LED TV for those wanting a premium cinema experience at home.

The company on Monday said it unveiled its 118-inch (300 centimeters) LG MAGNIT screen at this year's Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo, the only trade show devoted to residential technology, in Dallas, Texas, from Thursday through Sunday.

Starting with North America at a price of $237,000, the giant TV will be released sequentially in countries like South Korea.

The second TV in the LG MAGNIT series for premium home theater customers follows the first of 136 inches released in September last year.

The 118-inch TV supports 4K (3840 X 2160) resolution and uses its trademark display surface treatment technology to present vivid colors regardless of viewing angle. The black coating applied to the surface expresses rich and deep blacks.

Micro LED features a display of tiny pixels each emitting light on their own.

The MAGNIT's sixth-generation artificial intelligence Alpha 9 processor analyzes the video content producer’s intentions to adjust screen noise. Recognition of the faces of people in a scene, objects, letters and backgrounds also results in a more natural and three-dimensional image quality.

The speakers on the left and right sides of the screen each produce up to 4.2 channels of surround sound and 50 watts of output.
