LG Electronics Inc. said on Friday that its electric vehicle (EV) charger has received certification from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the US-based global leading safety certification organization.

The certified product is the 11-kilowatt (kW) AC EV Charger. It will be released in the US market in the first half of next year.

UL evaluates the safety of electrical and electronic products and awards certification to products that meet the nation's standards. It's renowned for its stringent requirements and rigorous certification process.

This charger has been certified for several standards related to EV charging and safety, including the 'UL Standard for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (UL 2594).

LG Electronics expects that this certification will enable it to emphasize the safety and quality of its EV chargers to customers.

Additionally, LG Electronics plans to complete the UL certification for a 175kW fast charger by early next year, aiming to enhance its competitiveness in the EV charger market in the US.

Meanwhile, LG Electronics has been producing EV chargers for the domestic market since May. The company will expand into overseas markets, starting with the US next year.
