Extraordinary Attorney Woo is most popular content on KT's Genie TV

The drama with the most purchases this year on Genie TV, internet protocol TV (IPTV) service of KT Corp., is the hit legal drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

KT on Tuesday released its year-end settlement report for Genie TV showing analysis of content consumption data by genre among the IPTV service's nine million users this year.

The report said "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" had about 600,000 user purchases as Genie TV's top series this year, followed by the KBS production "Young Lady and Gentleman" and the SBS drama "One Dollar Lawyer."

The MBC historical drama "The Red Sleeve" with 6.1 million views was the most popular series seen multiple times, followed by Genie TV's original series "New Recruit" with 5.8 million.

The highest-grossing film of the year on Genie TV with sales of 5 billion won ($3.9 million) was the crime action-thriller "The Roundup," the first movie to attract 10 million moviegoers domestically since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Second was the action comedy "Confidential Assignment 2: International" and third was the sci-fi action thriller "The Witch: Part 2. The Other One."

Among unscripted entertainment shows, the SBS hit "Running Man" was first with around 210,000 purchases, followed by the MBC shows "Late Night Ghost Talk" in second and "Hangout with Yoo" third.

"Genie TV has evolved into a 'media portal' that reflects user preferences to curate, so we will keep cementing our status as Korea's leading media platform showing the content users want," Kim Hoon-bae, head of KT's media platform business, said.

Through Thursday, Genie TV is displaying its year-end specials at the top of its video-on-demand menu featuring the year's top 30 pieces of content by genre like animation, series, music and documentaries as well as the most popular movies, dramas, reality shows and children's material.
